Hello, it’s me again, you’re afternoon tea lover and reviewer. I felt very fancy when I headed to The Gaddum Restaurant at Brockhole-on-Windermere as it was the MOST BEAUTIFUL arts and crafts house with a very dainty afternoon tea.

Arts and Crafts Afternoon tea
The afternoon tea was served on this beautiful art deco stand and was filled with lots of locally sourced goodies. Our server was brilliant and explained what all of the different sandwiches and cakes were – she was so lovely and told us all about the history and where food was sourced.
Before I go onto the afternoon tea, I’ll start by telling you all about how amazing the tea was. We were given a tea menu of specially blended teas by
I opted for the Jewel of Africa which is a roobis tea and had an orange taste. It was absolutely gorgeous and so refreshing.
There were 4 sandwiches; roasted belly pork with homemade brown sauce, Cumbrian pastrami with wholegrain mustard mayo, smoked salmon and cucumber and goats cheese and homemade onion marmalade.
All of the sandwiches were tasty but my favourites were definitely the Cumbrian pastrami and the goat’s cheese. They were so full of flavour and I could’ve eaten a full plate of them!
Onto the scones where we both had a plain scone and fruit scone. They were
Onto the cakes which were like mini works of art. They’re inspired by the gardens at Brockhole and tasted as good as they looked!
First, there was the strawberry & basil eclair’s which were so light they practically melted in your mouth. It was a really lovely combination and the basil wasn’t too in your face which I was worried about.
The mango and vanilla caramel tart. This one was really sweet (a bit too much for me) and very fruity! I loved the bits of meringue on top with the mango puree.
The final cake and my absolute favourite was the rose and cinnamon financier which was an almond sponge with buttercream and chocolate popping candy sprinkled on top. I’d forgotten how much fun popping candy was and it really made the cake!
Final thoughts on The Gaddum, Brockhole-on-Windermere
I loved our visit to The Gaddum – it was so peaceful there and perfect for special occasions. I’d definitely love to go back and try their full lunch menu.
