Hello my loves!
I’m Katie May, I’m 24 years old, a full time content creator and live up north near The Lake District in Cumbria.
As a true country northern lass, I love a cuppa tea, getting outside on walks and yes, I have a nine year old border collie to finish the true country image.
I spent a few years in my second home, Manchester, where I went for uni to study Law for 4 years which is when I started this version of my blog (I’ve been on the internet for a long time and there’s a few blogs along the way). It turns out Law wasn’t for me, but I love writing, photography and creating content. What started as a creative outlet for a heavy degree and masters has turned into a passion and job and I bloody love it.
Here at Postcards from Katie May, I publish easy to make recipes, delicious restaurants I’ve been to and sharing my love of food. I also share book reviews, travel guides and diaries and wellbeing guides for living a well life. Overarching all of this is my experience of living with a chronic illness.
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 17 year old and a year and a half later, whilst in my first year of university, I had life saving, emergency surgery to have my bowel removed and a stoma bag fitted. In 2018, I had my stoma made permanent and also diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
I started writing about my health and my stoma straight after my surgery because, to be honest, I’m a bit of an over-sharer and writing helps me process things. So it just seemed like a natural fit!
These are a few of my favourite things…
- I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I’ve been obsessed since I was six and I think everyone thought it was going to be a phase but we’re still here, 19 years later…
- My second childhood love, which I refuse to grow out of, is Disney. My dream in life is to visit all of the theme parks and one day that dream will come true.
- I’m a Gryffindor and my star sign is Leo
- I love food. It makes me so happy. Cooking it, eating it, talking about it. I JUST LOVE FOOD
- I’m a total introvert and happiest reading my book or binge watching a medical drama (cough *Greys Anatomy* cough)
- Comedy gigs make my heart sing
- I’ve seen McFly over 10 times in my life
Anyway, before I start rambling too much, I just wanted to say enjoy your time here and I hope you stick around. If you ever want a chat, come find me on Twitter and Instagram!
