A four day weekend is just around the corner (yay!) and this might be a good time to really relax, take a break and recharge your batteries.
I took a month long digital detox recently and took stock of what actually makes me feel good. To be honest, I think we should all be taking more breaks, more regularly. The past 12 months have been hard for everyone and whilst we have been at home a lot that doesn’t mean we’ve had a break.
I’ve found I actually really struggle to take a break if I’m at home. Get me on holiday and I can relax easily but it’s harder when you’re in your own space. Especially if you’re working in that space too.
So, this bank holiday weekend, take a break, recharge your batteries and have fun.

Here are 21 ways to relax this easter bank holiday…
- Delete all your social media, delete your apps and pop your phone in a draw for the weekend. Trust me, you’ll feel so much better (after the initial panic)
- Curl up with a book and a cup of tea, distraction free.
- Go on a long walk, and take a flask of coffee with you
- Try a new recipe and really get into and enjoy it
- Make yourself a fancy drink and sit out in the sun (or by the fire depending on how the weather acts!) and catch up with friends or family in the garden or on zoom
- Try a new crafting project. Two of my favourites are candle making and embroidery
- Spend an hour sitting and journalling. Check in with how you’re feeling, what your goals and dreams are, what you need from yourself over the next few days, weeks and months
- Have a spring clean. They’re not wrong when they say tidy space, tidy mind. Whether it’s a dust and a hoover or a full blown Marie Kondo, take some time to make your space sparkle
- Make yourself a hearty and feel good breakfast. What’s your fave? A full english, avo and poached egg or shakshuka – go full out and make it special
- Bake a easter treat for yourself – there are so many brilliant mini egg recipes out there which I’m excited to try!
- You’re never too old for an easter egg hunt! Embrace your inner child and create an easter egg hunt for the whole family
- Have a reset day
- There’s nothing more calming than a relaxing bath or shower. So get out your fancy shower gel and your bubble bath and have some me time
- Plan your post lockdown bucket list!
- Try a calming yoga flow
- Put on some feel good music and have a dance around the kitchen
- Pop on your favourite podcasts
- Create a fancy af cheese board with all of the cheese and chutney
- Binge watch your favourite comedy series (may I recommend Schitts Creek, Friday Night Dinner, The IT Crowd and AP Bio)
- It’s a weekend to embrace chocolate so make yourself a bouji hot chocolate with all the trimmings
- Write a list of 50 things which make you feel GOOD. Whether they’re big things or small, write them all down and see how you can put these things into your daily routine
