I’ve been testing a lot of different factor 50 sun-creams and thought I’d share some of the best (and less so good) as well as some tips for finding the best ones.
As I’m currently using factor 50, I’m also going to share some of my favourite fake tans which are quick, easy and streak-free. Having a tan makes me feel 100 times better
What to look for when choosing the best suncream protection
The thing with suncream is that there are so many different varieties that it can be hard to know which ones to go for.
We’ll start with which factor to go for. SPF measures the amount of protection you’ll receive from the suns UVB rays. For example, if you normally burn after 30 minutes without sunscreen, an SPF 30 will protect you for 30 times longer, which is 15 hours.
I normally opt for factor 30 but I’ve been sensitive to the sun because of medication so I’ve been using factor 50.
It’s recommended that you use at least factor 30, especially in the little heat wave we’re in at the moment!
The next thing to look for is the UVA rating. It’s a star rating out of 5 and the higher the protection means the better protection.
When it comes to sunscreen with the best rating (4/5 star ratings) some of my favourites are;

I was really shocked when I found out that Garnier’s Ambre Solaire was only 3 star UVA. However, I do love the smell of it and it doesn’t stain your clothes!
I really like the Freshly Cosmetics factor 50 face and body suncream. I’m not sure what it’s UVA rating is, however, I haven’t burnt using it and I love the ethics behind the company. It’s cruelty-free, biodegradable and toxin free.
My top 3 fake tans for a streak-free tan
I love a tan. I feel most like me when I’ve got some colour however it’s not always possible to in the UK weather.
The top things I look for in fake tan is how easy it is to put on, how long it lasts, whether it streaks and how it smells.
So, I thought I’d do some mini-reviews of my top three which I always go for when I’m in need of a quick tan fix!
The first is the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk. My favourite thing about Bondi Sands is that it doesn’t have that horrible fake tan smell. It gives you a really nice, natural looking colour which leaves you glowing. I have found recently that it’s streaked however my skin has been dry recently which I think is why this has happened.
My second go to, and possible favourite is the Dove Visible Glow (fair to medium). This is incredibly hydrating and I’ve never been patchy when wearing it. It’s super quick and easy to put on and leaves you with a natural healthy glow.
It doesn’t last as long as the Bondi Sands one but you can still get a good few days out of it!
My final favourite fake tan is the Tropic sun drench overnight mousse. This is one for a longer lasting tan and when I can be bothered to wash it off for the next morning!
This is another one where I haven’t had any streak problems. Once you’ve washed it off the next morning, you’re left with a warm and even glow which lasts about 4 days!
