Simple Skincare Routine for Combination/Oily Skin

It’s safe to say I’ve been having a right mare with my skin at the moment. For the past few weeks, my T Zone especially has been super oily and greasy and my make up has been sliding all over the place which we all know isn’t ideal! So I’ve made it my mission to find a skincare routine which works for me and reduces the oiliness! I never used to be a skincare person but I feel like as I’ve grown up, I’ve started to realise the importance of looking after your skin.

Whenever I put lots of products on my face, I have to be super careful because it can cause more breakouts. I don’t know if it’s because I have sensitive skin or if it’s due to a build up of products. One thing I do know is that me + a lot of products does not go down well. This always makes me really dubious of trying new products out but I’m so glad I’ve tried this little collection of products out! My skin has cleared up within a week and a half and I am impressed!!!

I thought I would go through my skincare routine with you and let you know my thoughts on each of the products.

Morning Routine

I start my mornings by using the Garnier SkinActive Purifying Gel Wash with Green Tea Leaves. It’s for combination to oily skin and honestly I feel like it works miracles! It’s really good at removing the oil from over night and leaves you starting your day with fresh and clean skin. It fees like it takes away all the excess oil without leaving your skin feeling dry and tight and it really does leave your skin feeling clean. Not only does it work, it also smells gorgeous and refreshing which is always a bonus to the start of the day!

I follow the face wash with my moisturiser which is the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water for combination skin. I’m always really skeptical about using new moisturiser’s because I’m really picky. I don’t like really heavy moisturisers and I try to use oil free ones as I never want to add oil to my skin. Let me tell you now, this is a holy grail product! It leaves your skin feeling hydrated and soft without feeling thick on your skin. It absorbs incredibly quickly and is another product which smells amazing. They also do the product for dry and sensitive skin so there’s something for everyone!

Evening Routine

I take my make up off with the Garnier Micellar cleansing gel. Garnier is known for their micellar water range but I have definitely been converted to their cleansing gels. I feel like it takes my make up off a lot better and my skin feels more clean and refreshed after using it. Even if I haven’t worn make up, I use this just to freshen up my face and remove dirt from the day.

Once or twice a week, I’ll follow this with the L’Oreal Detox Clay Mask. If you follow me on twitter, you’ll have seen me absolutely raving about this mask because my skin feels so rejuvenated and properly detoxed and clean after using it. It really reminds me of the MudMasky masks (but is a lot cheaper!) and I am complexly in love with it. You don’t need to use a lot and you get at least 10 uses out of one pot which is really good for £7.99. My T zone is my main problem area so I’ve started just putting the mask on there and I’m going to try some of their other masks and do some multi masking because I’m in love with them so much!

I always finish the day using the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water again! You only need one small pump of the product and it goes a long way.

Since starting this skincare routine two weeks ago, I’ve really noticed a change in my skin. Let me know in the comments your holy grail skincare products and any other tips you might have for combatting oily skin!
