Is there anything more relaxing than going for an afternoon tea followed by a spa treatment? Me and my mum went to The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa and started our weekend in a very relaxing way on Friday afternoon and it was exactly what we both needed after a few hectic weeks!
Afternoon tea is one of my favourite things. Me and mum are slowly making our way around the whole of Cumbria, trying out different afternoon tea spots!
There are lots of amazing places around The Lake District which offer afternoon tea. The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa in Grasmere has taken the concept of afternoon tea and put a Thai spin on it, to match their new vegan spa range.
As soon as I hear that there was calamari involved with the afternoon tea, I was sold (I just LOVE calamari!).
Thai inspired afternoon tea at The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa
We had such a lovely welcome when we arrived and started off with (non-alcoholic) cocktails (there was the option of alcoholic ones too) and we chose what tea we wanted as well.
They also checked if we had any dietary requirements and whilst we didn’t have any, they were really accommodating and could cater well for them.
I opted for the Virgin Wordsworth which had orange juice, lemonade and cherry which tasted beautiful and opted for a decaf breakfast tea.
Okay, so the afternoon tea consisted of; Calamari, king prawns, spring rolls, pandan scented sticky rice, panacotta, banana and sesame fritters and warm Mango Scones with Lemon curd, Chantilly Cream & Butter.
It was absolutely devine and a really good option for if you’re not that into sandwiches. I always really like it when there are different savoury options so this one was definitely for me.
The sticky rice was gorgeous, I couldn’t put my finger on what reminded me of BUT I do know I would eat it again in a heartbeat!
The scones had to be my favourite though; mango in a scone should be done more often! It was warm and fluffy and was really tasty.
Vegan spa treatments at The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa
The Wordsworth has updated it’s spa treatments and uses products from the holistic spa brand, Ytsara.
I opted for the The Ytsara Prescriptive 55 Minute Facial Absolute Control & Clarity and it was the quickest and most relaxing 55 minutes. The facial includes cleanse, exfoliation, massage, mask, hydration and left me feeling super zen.
Lauren, the therapist there, was really kind and made you feel relaxed too. There are two rooms, the consultation room which looks onto the pool and then the treatment room which has a real calming feel about it.
I came out of the treatment feeling so relaxed and my face and skin felt so soft afterwards.
After the treatment, I went to the jacuzzi and pool to carry on relaxing (and to get some photos for the blog and ‘gram!) and it had a really nice atmosphere about it. The pool was a really good size as well and was a god temperature so you weren’t overheating which was really nice to swim in.
A big thanks to The Wordsworth for inviting me to come! Let me know in the comments- what’s your favourite part of afternoon tea?
The Wordsworth hotel & spa gifted me afternoon tea and a spa treatment in return for this review. All opinions and comments are my own 🙂
